Description
Walker Lake, natural lake is a remnant of ancient Lake Lahontan, which covered much of Northwestern Nevada until it dried up 9000 years ago. It's located in the Great Basin in western Nevada in the United States and is one of only three terminal lakes in North Amercia to support a freshwater fishery. In the late 1800's, the Paiute Indians fed on the huge Lahontan Cutthroat Trout until the upstream irrigation diversion was installed causing so much water to be removed that it started drying up.
